National Lampoon has signed Savage Steve Holland to direct the fish-out-of-water story Ratko, the company's second in-house production after Bagboy. National Lampoon's Ratko: The Dictator's Son follows the adventures of a despot's son who heads to the US to attend college. Robert Mittenthal and Michael Rubiner wrote the screenplay.

The National Lampoon, Intermedia and Cinetel Films co-production is being produced by Barry Layne and Paul Hertzberg, with Intermedia's Scott Kroopf and Cinetel's Lisa Hanson serving as executive producer.

'This is an exciting project for National Lampoon,' chief executive officer Daniel Laikin said. 'It appeals to our core audience and follows in the footsteps of our college comedies of the past.'

National Lampoon Releasing plans to release up to 12 titles a year comprising four original productions and up to eight acquisitions. Some titles will receive broader distribution in partnership with major studios.

My brother and I used to watch this show once it went into syndication.  Whenever we were both around and we could find this show on the Sci-Fi channel, that’s what we would be doing.  The show was clever and funny and used obscure ways to deal with serious issues in important ways.  In short, it was the standard show you find on Showtime.  I was sad when I discovered the show had ended.  Nonetheless, now there’s a chance to see a new adventure from that show.

Starting this February 17th, now available on DVD from MGM Home Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment comes the continuation of the story of a whole group of grim reapers and their quest to find a regular life.  Dead Like Me – Life After Death is ready to slouch out of your television screen and bring you back to life with this hilarious and touching film.  Bring home this fantastic continuation of a wonderful television show.

This movie takes place two years after the show has stopped tracking this group of undead reapers.  They have a new boss now, Cameron Kane, a slick new reaper who sets up a whole different agenda for the group.  This new agenda creates disorder within the group and chaos results.  Daisy and Mason end up falling in behind Cameron and his promises.  Georgia then proceeds to break the unbreakable rule by showing herself to her families.  This movie’s stars include Henry Ian Cusick, Sarah Wynter, Callum Blue and Ellen Muth.

The special features included in this DVD are an optional audio commentary from director Steven Herek and star Ellen Muth and a featurette about bringing this series back from the dead.  Not only that, but MGM has also decided to release the entire collection of episodes from that series at the same time.  So if you loved the series, now is your time to make something out of it.

This movie is a magnificent continuation of the television show.  It plays like a longer episode of the show which is exactly the feeling you want when you are trying something like this.  For instance, if someone were to make a movie based on Six Feet Under, I don’t want all sorts of crazy stuff to start happening or for Michael C. Hall to all of a sudden not be gay.  We want more of the same.  That’s why we fall in love with those shows to begin with.  And for those who fell in love with this delightful show, the time for that love to be felt again is here now.

Aloysious Christopher Parker (Chris Parker), 16 years old and as skinny as a bean, calls himself Allie in the signatures he occasionally spray-paints on the walls of buildings in downtown Manhattan. Allie is not a serious graffiti artist. Mostly he just drifts around, allowing things to happen.

One day he's lounging against a sidewalk post box, smoking and thinking, when two youngish women drive up in an open convertible. The driver leaps out to do an errand, leaving the motor running. Her friend asks Allie to put a letter in the post box. Allie says, ''Do I look like a mailman?''

While the woman is posting the letter herself, Allie moves around to the other side of the car, gets in and drives off.

In the next scene of ''Permanent Vacation,'' Jim Jarmusch's first feature, made in 1980, Allie is selling the car for $800.

This sort of chance encounter, leading to an unpremeditated scam, is only a small part of ''Permanent Vacation,'' but it was to become an essential aspect of each of the Jarmusch films that followed: ''Stranger Than Paradise'' (1984), ''Down by Law'' (1986) and ''Mystery Train'' (1989).

''Permanent Vacation,'' which has been available for some years on videocassette, opens today at Anthology Film Archives, where it is being shown in a 35-millimeter blow-up of the 16-millimeter original.

It's a must-see for anyone who shares the belief that Mr. Jarmusch is the most arresting and original American film maker to come out of the 1980's.

''Permanent Vacation'' was made for something in the neighborhood of $12,000. It is not an unrecognized masterpiece, but it is clearly the forerunner of the eccentric comedies to come.

In Mr. Jarmusch's work, Aloysious Christopher Parker occupies the place that Stephen Dedalus holds in the work of James Joyce. Allie represents something of the film maker's sensibility, or something of what Mr. Jarmusch may sometimes see as his sensibility. It's necessary to be vague about such things since Mr. Jarmusch, after making ''Permanent Vacation,'' has kept his distance from his characters.

Allie talks a lot throughout the film, and though Mr. Jarmusch finds him funny, he would also seem to agree with Allie's assessment of the world, which is gloomy. Allie may be right, but he's also very naive, some of which rubs off on the film itself. The landscape Allie inhabits is one of blind alleys, rubble-filled urban lots and abandoned buildings, not much different, really, from that of the Memphis that Mr. Jarmusch pictures in ''Mystery Train.'' The people Allie meets in the course of his wandering include his schizophrenic mother, a possibly psychotic war veteran, and a junkie who talks about the Doppler Effect and recalls the sad life story of Charlie Parker.

There are also others: a hysterical Spanish-speaking young woman and a street musician (played by John Lurie, one of the principal players of ''Stranger Than Paradise'').

In later films Mr. Jarmusch demonstrates a singular gift for the kind of narrative that, without the audience's awareness, builds to an inevitable pay-off. There are no such surprises in ''Permanent Vacation.'' Instead, there is a quantity of raw material that would later be refined into three of the funniest, wisest comedies of the last decade.

AVG Anti-Virus 9 introduces a few new features, claiming faster scan times, faster boot times, and other under-the-hood improvements.

Users who've used AVG 8 will find the interface nearly identical, and generally it's easy to use. From the main window, though, you must double-click to get further information on any feature, whether virus scanning, firewall protection, or updating. We'd like to see this streamlined, since there's no reason to click on any of them without wanting more details; it is a spare interface, otherwise. You'll find a full-blown scheduling utility for automating tasks and checking for new definitions as often as you'd like. Other perks include technical support and the ability to run on multiple operating systems. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG creates a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode. The program doesn't obviously tax your system when scanning or when running in the background. There's also a new identity-theft assistance service, available for free and provided by a third party.

In empirical testing, scan times were slower than expected, and the new firewall database proved to have autoapproval problems with some well-known programs. It also detected some image files as threats, when two other scans decided they weren't--we decided these were false positives. AVG might not be the fastest or the most effective available security option, but it still gets the job done and you're better off with it.

Feast III-The Happy Finish-Unrated (2009) DVDRip

And here we go! Last year Feast II: Sloppy Seconds was unleashed upon us. Some liked it, some hated it. I personally loved it. It was a blast from beginning to end. Fortunately for fans of Sloppy Seconds it was filmed back to back with "Feast III: The Happy Finish" the epic finale to the trilogy. Did it deliver the blood soaked laughs I was expecting? Read on.

Even though it's probably my least favorite in the Feast trilogy, The Happy Finish was still a knee slapping good time! Where else can we see a handicapped prophet nicknamed Short Bus Gus and a karate expert called Jean Claude-Siegel? Only the Feast series baby! We start off with the ending of Sloppy Seconds but with a new addition: The death of Honey Pie. But wait a tick! You're telling me that she got up and off the ground after being wounded during the end credits of Sloppy Seconds. You would be right but there's something Director John Gulager didn't show you. After getting up a feast beast decapitates her and then eats her head. But that's not all. He also shits the head onto the ground. Fans hoping for more of Honey Pie in this sequel will be really disappointed but I***ing loved it! What a way of going against our expectations! A totally awesome way of dispatching the character. Nice!

Once this Happy Finish really starts we get more naked biker chicks, lots and lots of goopy gore, more monster rape, quasi zombie puke people, an armless karate expert and one of the most "WTF" endings of all time. You know what that spells for me? E-N-T-E-R-T-A-I-N-M-E-N-T. If that doesn't spell the same thing for you then too bad. You're the one missing out!

I love the outdoors.  I’m no granola, but I do wear fleece and drink from Camelbak water bottles and keep a bike rack on my car almost year ’round.  I like to swim and camping is sweet and biking is absolutely my drugs.  Two of my favorite books are A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson and The High Adventures Of Eric Ryback by Eric Ryback.  One is about the Appalachian Trail and the other is about the Pacific Crest Trail and both are fantastic.  Each has made me love the outdoors more and has made me more sensitive to environmental issues.  Now there’s a new movie out which will surely make you feel the opposite about Mother Nature.

Two best friends have drifted apart since high school.  One is a nurse and the other an attorney.  The nurse’s favorite patient is dying and asks him to find her granddaughter, along with her British half-grandson.  The nurse convinces the lawyer and the Brit to come with him, so they do, but the directions they get into the woods are horrible.  It seems that she has turned into an ecological warrior hippie, but they set out to find her anyway.  That’s when the mobsters and squirrels get involved and they lose their raft.  This movie stars no one I recognized from any other movie.  Ever.  Well, Jerry Rice is in it, but that just makes me want to cry.

The special features included in this DVD are a featurette about the making of this film, a reel of bloopers, a bunch of funny deleted scenes, a look at the treehouse the movie was shot in and what was supposed to be a funny featurette about an actor they hired to play the squirrel.

The eco-hippies were hot, but not enough so to make me enjoy watching the movie.  The America-centrist crowd will get a laugh out of the incompetent and metrosexual British half-brother, but the poop jokes aren’t funny, even to a third grader.  This movie was not funny at all and it was appallingly unfunny.  Based off of the first movie, which was terrible yet still had a couple of redeeming jokes and Burt Reynolds, I wasn’t expecting this movie to shatter my film world.  Nonetheless, there was not even a slight impact and that made me sad.  I did not laugh one single time and I will laugh at even the slightest excuse to do so.  This movie is awful and a complete waste of time.

The film, 'Blank', is the story of a young boy who witnesses the violent death of his parents. The story fast forwards 20 years and our young man finds himself involved with organized crime, his stepfather is the crime boss. While watching a poker game he overhears who murdered his parents and vows revenge. We follow our central character for the next 20 hours as he plans and executes his revenge. He picks his father up from prison, solicits assistance in his plan and becomes unwittingly involved with a pair of serial killers. There are side plots involving the crime boss's wife and an affair and a bizarre and shocking twist at the end. The film would be best described as a psycho/thriller. We meet other characters living separate lives whose paths all cross at the point of our hero's revenge.
